Central Board of Irrigation and Power was set up by the Government of India for monitoring of Irrigation & Power of our country in the pre-independence era. It is now committed towards the development of Irrigation, Power & Renewable energy sectors of the country through its Human Resources development.
This is a modular type course of 52 weeks duration (2 semesters) covering the complete syllabus given under Indian Electricity Rules.
Eligibility
B-Tech / B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/institution. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply. However, they must submit their degree/provisional degree at the time of counseling/start of the course.
Selection Criteria
Based on the marks of 10th, 12th, Engineering Degree, GATE and PGDC-CET2012 etc.
Sponsored Seats 
10% of the seals a-e ‘ese’ved for sponsored candidates having 60% marks in B-Tech. and 1 year experience in Power utilities for both of the above categories.
Age Limit 
For Non-sponsored candidates, the age limit is 27 years as on 07.07.2012. No age limit for the sponsored candidates.
Fees
Non-sponsored & sponsored candidates. Rs 1,50,000/- & 200000/-respectively, excluding the lodging & boarding charges.
Total Seats
60 {sixty seats – provisional). The seats reserved for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities which wil be converted to normal seats, if not filled up.
Placement
CBIP maintains close linkages with all power utilities and reputed companies of Indian Power Sector which will help for the placement of the students. Sponsored candidates will not be considered for any campus placement. Almost all the candidates of the 1st batch of T&D programme have been placed in various reputed organizations including Central PSU and placement activities for the 1st batch of PGDC (TPPE) has already been started.
